STV has signed a new deal with Lime Pictures for continued release of classic episodes of Brookside until 2029.
Since 2023 STV has been dropping five episodes a week of the seminal Channel 4 soap on the free platform STV Player.
Starting with the first episode from 1982, the release pattern has currently reached the end of 1989 and is about to enter the 1990s – arguably the soap’s most memorable period.
Lime Pictures MD John Whittle said: “Lime Pictures are delighted that fans of Brookside can continue to enjoy original episodes for years to come.
“As shown by the success of the recent Brookside crossover episode [with Hollyoaks], the demand is there for these much-loved, familiar characters and soap archetypes to be back on our screens.”
STV reports 33 million views for episodes of the show to date.
