With just weeks to go now until Christmas, the major storylines affecting the residents of Walford in EastEnders this festive season are starting to come into focus.
The soap is promising visits from ghosts of the past, villains of the present and visions of the future – but what exactly is in store?
Kat (Jessie Wallace) is doing her best to protect daughter Zoe (Michelle Ryan), who is hellbent on reconnecting with her long-lost son, but faces in an obstacle in the form of her mystery tormentor. All looks set to be finally revealed, but in the process shocking secrets will ‘put Kat’s motherly love to the test’.
A special pre-Christmas episode will centre on Nigel (Paul Bradley) and his ongoing battle with dementia which will see him believe that he’s back in The Vic in the ’90s, where he is joined by three long-deceased characters – Pat Evans (Pam St Clement), Barry Evans (Shaun Williamson) and ex-wife Debbie (Nicola Duffett).
Meanwhile, over on the other side of the Square, a newly-returned Max Branning (Jake Wood) is hoping to broker a family peace but is confronted with a series of bombshells that leave him “full of rage and regret”… and face to face with Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins).
As 2025 becomes 2026, EastEnders instead moves a whole year in the future with a flashforward episode set on January 1, 2027 in the Branning household.
