Timothee Chalamet in Marty Supreme / A24
Timothee Chalamet has declared his upcoming role in Marty Supreme his “best” performance ever.
The 29-year-old is generating Oscar buzz over his turn as an aspiring table tennis player in ’50s New York, with an impressive score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 90 critics to date.
For Chalamet, who has previously made no secret of his desire to become an acting great, it follows acclaimed turns in movies such as Call Me By Your Name, Dune, Beautiful Boy and A Complete Unknown.
Speaking to journalist Margaret Gardiner on YouTube, he said: “This is probably my best performance, and it’s been like seven, eight years that I feel like I’ve been handing in really, really committed, top-of-the-line performances.
“And it’s important to say out loud because the discipline and the work ethic I’m bringing to these things, I don’t want people to take for granted. I don’t want to take for granted. This is really some top-level shit.”
Marty Supreme is released in the UK and Ireland on Boxing Day.
