Coronation Street actor Daniel Brocklebank has said that his character Billy will be involved in "a rather big" storyline in 2023.
Weatherfield's resident vicar has been a firm fixture on the cobbles since 2014, since which he has been involved in relationships with Todd (Gareth Pierce) and Paul (Peter Ash), as well as becoming the guardian of Summer (Harriet Bibby).
A shock twist also revealed that Billy was one of the men responsible for the car crash that killed Susan, the daughter of Ken (Bill Roache) and mother of Adam (Sam Robertson), in 2001.
Speaking to The Mirror, Brocklebank revealed that he has just started filming scenes for a major new Billy storyline that will run through 2023 and into 2024.
"We're just at the beginning now of a rather big storyline for Billy, so I am looking forward to the next 12-18 months," he said.
The actor also hinted that the current storyline involving Summer acting as a surrogate for Esther (Vanessa Hehir) and Mike (Tom Lorcan) may be about to take a dark twist.
"We have got lots of stuff coming up," he continued. "We're in the middle of the surrogacy stuff, that's on screen now but the stuff we're shooting now won't be on screen until February.
"Oh I can't say anything, they are obviously... there's something a little bit sinister about them I think, and watching them on screen... a lot of their scenes were without me so it's interesting to see it unfolding as a viewer.
"But there will be plenty of twists and turns before the storyline finishes, yeah."
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1.
