Ruthie Henshall joins Coronation Street?
Musical theatre star Ruthie Henshall hints that she is filming a role in Coronation Street.

Musical theatre actress Ruthie Henshall has suggested that she is filming a role in Coronation Street.

The 55-year-old is a legend of the West End and Broadway scenes, having appeared in shows such as Chicago, Oliver!, Billy Elliot and Les Miserables.

In a post on her Instagram Stories, Henshall shared a picture of a stack of Coronation Street scripts.

Lines for a character called 'Estelle' are highlighted in marker pen, suggesting that that is her part, while the script appears to show Estelle interacting with Glenda Shuttleworth.

Glenda - a former singer on a cruise ship - arrived on the cobbles last year and is played by West End star Jodie Prenger, and the dialogue between the two characters hints that they may be old friends or rivals from Glenda's cruising days.

ITV has yet to comment on the potential casting.
