Patsy Kensit joins the cast of EastEnders playing Lola's mother Emma.

Patsy Kensit has joined the cast of EastEnders for a brief stint relating to the upcoming departure of Danielle Harold as Lola.

In recent weeks, viewers have seen Lola tragically diagnosed with a brain tumour - and her emotional exit is expected to play out over the festive and New Year period.

Kensit, who has previously appeared in Emmerdale and Holby City, will play the part of Emma - Lola's hitherto-unseen mother who abandoned her when she was aged just three.

"Bosses are thrilled they have managed to get Patsy for this role," a source told the Daily Star. "She's a great actress and is about to play a part in one of their biggest current storylines."

Kensit is expected to film her scenes later this month.
