Jeremy Edwards has described his brief return to Hollyoaks last year for its 25th anniversary as "a bit of a shit show".
The 50-year-old was part of the original cast when the soap launched in 1995 and played the motorbike-loving bad boy Kurt Benson for four years until the character was killed off in an off-screen jet-skiing accident.
Some 21 years later, Kurt returned to the village last autumn to explain that he had faked his death but left again just two months later.
Edwards has previously admitted that he was shocked by the online abuse he got over his character's return and has now revealed that he will not be making the same mistake again.
"It became a bit of a shit show," he told The Sun. "I was supposed to be back for much longer, then COVID struck. It would have been better to leave it alone because it wasn't one thing or the other, they didn't know where they were going with it.
"I was prepared to go for six months to a year but doing three months then not knowing my future?
"The fact is, Kurt's alive, he can come back and they've said they want me back in future. But I've said, 'Nah'."
Hollyoaks continues weeknights on Channel 4 and E4.
