Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim receives a quintuple injury boost as five players return to training with the Red Devils at Carrington.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has received multiple injury boosts ahead of the return of domestic football, as five players are back in training with the Red Devils.

The 20-time English champions are back in action away to Nottingham Forest next Tuesday night, aiming to build on a positive March that saw them receive two nominations for the monthly Premier League awards.

Man United took four points from six in the current month, holding second-placed Arsenal to a 1-1 draw before strolling to a 3-0 win over Leicester City, in addition to reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Amorim's men did so in spite of an unenviable injury situation, although it was recently reported that the club were hopeful of having as many as seven players back for next week's trip to the City Ground.

A plethora of boosts have now been confirmed, as Man United revealed on Friday that five of their infirm troops were back in full training with the rest of the team, three defenders and two goalkeepers.

Among the players to step back out onto the Carrington pitches was the seldom-seen Luke Shaw, who has been missing since December due to a calf injury and has made just three appearances in all competitions this season.

However, Shaw might now finally be in line for his first appearance of 2025, while his England teammate Harry Maguire was also able to join his teammates for training after his own calf injury.

The ex-Leicester City man has sat out each of Man United's last four matches and was also left out of the England squad due to his problem, although Thomas Tuchel also suggested that there was a tactical reason for his omission.

In addition, Leny Yoro was back out on the grass following a small foot problem, which ruled the young Frenchman out of Man United's final two fixtures before the international break.

Finally, backup goalkeepers Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton are also nearing returns from their unspecified problems and could be available for selection against Forest, but Andre Onana remains Amorim's undisputed number one.

While the fit-again quintet are all on track to be fit for the trip to Forest on Tuesday night, Man United are still likely to be missing four and potentially as many as five players against Nuno Espirito Santo's team.

Lisandro Martinez (knee) and Amad Diallo (ankle) are both out for the long-term, while Jonny Evans is carrying a back injury and Kobbie Mainoo is not expected back from his unspecified problem for at least a couple of weeks.

There was also serious concern for Ayden Heaven when the young defender went off with a worrying-looking injury against Leicester, but the ex-Arsenal man has apparently avoided a serious problem and may even be back in training within the next week.

On another positive note, Patrick Dorgu will be available for domestic matches again next week, having completed a three-game ban following his red card against Ipswich Town.

Man United head to the City Ground on Tuesday sat 13th in the Premier League table, and their next game after their clash with Forest comes against none other than bitter rivals Manchester City on April 6.
