Rory McIlroy on The Tonight Show on May 1, 2025 / NBC
Rory McIlroy will put on what is believed to be the most expensive Masters dinner ever tonight ahead of this year’s tournament.
In a tradition dating back to 1952, the reigning champion of the golf Major hosts a meal for all living previous winners of the Green Jacket, in addition to the current chairman of the Masters.
For this year McIlroy, 36, has chosen a menu that comes in at around £251 per head, with items including elk sliders, Wagyu beef, Irish champ mash and wine from the year he was born.
“When I was a kid, I used to eat champ by the bowl full. So I’m trying to tie in a little bit of my upbringing,” he explained recently.
“In the buildup to the Masters last year, I was eating a lot of elk. I got this big shipment of elk and I was eating a lot of that.
“I didn’t want elk to be the main course, because I didn’t know if everyone would like that, so I incorporated it into the appetisers.”
