Baywatch / FOX
Sky has acquired the rights to broadcast the upcoming reboot of Baywatch in the UK and Ireland.
The iconic lifeguard drama – originally starring Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff – was one of the most-watched TV shows in the world when it aired for 11 seasons between 1989 and 2001.
The new series stars Stephen Amell in the lead role of Hobie Buchannon, alongside Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, Shay Mitchell as Trina, Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Noah Beck as Luke and Brooks Nader as Selene.
“Baywatch is one of the most iconic television franchises of all time, and this bold new reimagining will deliver the sun, sea and high-stakes drama audiences know and love, while introducing a dynamic new cast for a new generation of fans,” said Lucy Criddle, Sky’s director of acquisitions.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Fremantle and couldn’t be more excited to bring the series exclusively to Sky audiences across the UK and Ireland.”
Baywatch is due to premiere in 2027.
