John Oliver as Z on General Hospital / ABC
John Oliver has made his debut on US soap General Hospital in the role of the menacing character Agent Z.
The three-episode arc came about after Oliver himself made an appeal to be cast on soaps on his talkshow Last Week Tonight in March, having been inspired by the ridiculous cameos of ESPN pundit Stephen A Smith on General Hospital over 10 years.
As well as appearing on that show as Z, the gun-toting head of World Securities Bureau (WSB), a spy agency preserving order, he will also star as another character on Days of Our Lives in August.
“General Hospital was everything I hoped it would be,” Oliver said. “It’s a true honour to be a small stain on the history of this illustrious show.”
