Will Bessant for Love Island 2026 / ITV
It was a Casa Amor bloodbath on last night’s Love Island as five of the newbies were dumped amid a shock recoupling that saw six new couples formed.
Shortly after leaving the villa, Will Bessant spoke to the press about his time on the show…
How does it feel to be leaving Love Island?
“I would’ve loved to have stayed but I did exactly what I wanted to do in terms of staying true to myself, going after what I wanted and not going with some sort of game plan. I don’t think I could’ve faked it even if I tried, to be honest. I rolled the dice and went with my gut and sometimes you come up unlucky and it doesn’t work out. I had a great time doing it. “
How would you describe the experience?
“The most ups and downs! It’s crazy. It’s so fun. The people that you meet there after walking in together. You’re almost a little family after 24 hours. I’ve never ever experienced anything like it. I could not have expected what was to happen there.”
We saw you getting to know Mica – did you think that could go somewhere?
“When I came in, I couldn’t gauge how strong these connections were – I didn’t think they were as strong as they were. I came in and I was open to whoever because I didn’t know who they really were. Jasmine seemed like a real natural fit and there was something about Ellie that I was really intrigued in. I got in there and thought ‘I’m not going to force anything and see who I drift to’ and that was Mica. I felt comfortable with her straight away. I could’ve talked to her for hours – it was the connection I wanted to run with and take that risk. It was great getting to know her. I think it could’ve gone somewhere and she even said if I came in earlier and the timing was better, who knows what would’ve happened? She had something a lot deeper with Samraj who she started her journey with. It was a completely valid move from her.”
Did you form good friendships?
“In terms of the boys, me and Carlos really got on. And me and Jordon. We were up chatting for hours. I really got on with him and I’m really gassed to see him when he comes out. In terms of the girls – they were all lovely. Every single one of them was nice and after the situation ended with me and Mica, it took the pressure off. Lola as well, she was like the wing man of the Villa.”
Love Island continues nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
