Ethan Ellis for Love Island 2026 / ITV
Bombshell Ethan Ellis became the latest Islander to be dumped from the villa on last night’s Love Island, having ultimately found himself as the odd one out in a love triangle with Priya Jaswal and Aidan Murphy.
Shortly after leaving the villa, Ethan spoke to the press about his time on the show…
How does it feel to be leaving Love Island?
“It feels bittersweet for sure. The bitter part is you end up building connections with everyone, boys and girls. You really want to stay, it’s such a unique experience that you don’t want to leave the bubble. The sweet side is that there wasn’t anyone in there for me romantically unfortunately. I just want to get back to the UK, see my friends and family and see what happens in the future. It wasn’t the nicest feeling leaving but it was the right time.”
We saw you explore a connection with Priya – did you think that could develop?
“I think I had clarity on it after a few days. I don’t have a bad word to say about Priya, compatibility-wise it wasn’t there. It became apparent quite early. I’m at a different stage in life compared to her. Probably on the outside it wouldn’t have progressed beyond one date, but in the Villa I explored what felt right at the time. At the time I went with the vibe that felt reciprocated. It just stemmed down to what was more of a fit all around, and I don’t think we were.”
How did you feel when she turned her attention towards Aidan?
“It got to the point where I ended up withdrawing, and for me it was part of how I carry myself and how I look at things. I was at a stage where I wouldn’t want to stand in the way of something that could have been something.”
When that happened did you feel like you were on borrowed time?
“From that moment I technically was on borrowed time. I came in at a later part of the series which is always risky and more tough, but in the same breath I took a great opportunity. I could have gone in at the start and been there for two days. I have to look at the positives – I did so many things in a short space of time, I survived a public vote within the first week, so I’m proud of myself and the journey.”
Was there anyone else that you wished you had the opportunity to get to know more?
“I did sit and think about this – there were a few people who had already left who were my type. Tina is a very attractive girl. Jasmine is very attractive but had a really strong connection with Kav. Even Elicia, on the outside, is someone that I might have connected with. Charlene was also a very attractive girl who I had my eye on before I went into the show.”
Which couples do you think will go the distance? Who are you rooting for?
“Rooting for them all, I love all of them. I think Tommy and Yas are the real deal, their compatibility probably places a bit better than everyone else’s – where they are at in life, where they live. I can see them on the outside, I see that. Also, Lorenzo and Julia, that’s the sort of person I see Lorenzo with and they match perfectly. Kav and Jasmine are also great, great people. Angie and Simba are also very solid. Aidan and Priya, and I say this with no malice, I don’t see it being a lasting thing – I think they match but I am not sure about longevity but I hope I’m proved wrong.”
Love Island continues Sundays to Fridays at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, with Unseen Bits airing Saturdays at 10pm.
