It was a double whammy for OG Aidan Murphy and Priya Jaswal on Friday night’s Love Island as they first decided to split up before learning that the public had decided to vote them out anyway.
Having just missed out on a spot in the final, Aidan spoke to the press shortly after leaving the villa to discuss his time on the show…
How does it feel to be leaving Love Island?
“I think to leave just knowing the experience, knowing the personal journey having that is very special and it means a lot to me. I wouldn’t change any of it. Every single moment in there was special, it kind of shapes you into the person that you want to become. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, which I feel very lucky to be a part of.”
Overall, how would you describe your Love Island experience?
“I was the first one in! I walked through the door with Mica and I popped that bottle of champagne, so I filled everyone’s glasses up for them when they came in. I feel like I have got everything out of this experience possible; all of the couples, all of the challenges, the Hideaway. I felt like I got the full Love Island experience. It’s one of those mad, crazy experiences that really do kind of build your character and shape you as a human. It’s very special.”
What was leaving the Villa like?
“We had the Last Supper, which was lovely. I feel like in my head, when we got put in that sort of bubble of being lowest in compatibility, I knew me and Priya, it was kind of our time.
“Things do happen, things do change. Maybe there was one more life left for Aidan in there, but in the back of my mind I was kind of preparing for it. For me and Priya, it was a nice send-off. Obviously being suited as well, being all dressed up smart to leave the Villa, I felt very lucky in that aspect.”
You won quite a few awards at the Grafties. What was that night like?
“The Grafties felt very much like the Aidan Murphy show that night! I’d say I’m very much a flirt and it does kind of get me in trouble in certain situations. So I think that award was earned, to be honest. Then there was Raunchiest Moment, there were a lot of raunchy moments, not even just from me but from some other couples as well, I did kind of own that one as well.”
What was it like having your brother Kavan in the Villa with you?
“I can honestly say I could not have done any of this without him. Having moments to discuss things and then lean on him for advice, knowing that he’s my brother, he’s my blood, I can trust him. I felt very lucky to experience that with him. Me and Kav were always close before coming in here, but having an experience like this together, we’re only going to get closer and closer.”
Which couples do you think will go the distance?
“Simba and Angelista, because they’ve had their trials and tribulations and I feel like Simba has proven his worth. Julia and Lorenzo, because I think as individuals people love them. Julia’s got her ways about going about things. She’s very opinionated. Then Tommy and Yas. I think since Tommy came in he’s made a beeline for Yas. Yas has had a bit of a difficult journey, I was part of that! I do want to put Kavan and Jasmine up there as well, and obviously Mica and Samraj.”
Where do things stand with you and Priya now?
“Me and Priya are trying to navigate this whole going from friends into a relationship situation. I’ve never been in this position so it’s kind of new for me. There’s a special bond and there’s a special place in my heart for Priya. I think that’s what’s constantly been drawing me back to her this whole time. Leaving the Villa, I am very much in a position where I do want to continue things with Priya and see where it’s going to go.”
