Celebrity housemates will reportedly be part of the mix as “guest residents” on the new series of Big Brother.
The show is expected to return on Sunday, September 13 for an extended eight-week run – a record length in the ITV era – and will launch as usual with a group of civilian housemates.
According to The Sun, they will be joined a few days later by a handful of former Celebrity Big Brother housemates, who will live alongside them for short stints or just appear for the duration of tasks.
The news comes after ITV dropped Celebrity Big Brother from the schedules earlier this year for budgetary reasons.
“ITV are always thinking up new ways to inject even more fun into Big Brother,” a source told the newspaper.
“When Sharon Osbourne came into CBB as a lodger a couple of years ago it worked really well.
“The plan is to find big stars from all of the CBB series to come in and surprise the housemates. Finer details are still being thrashed out, with the idea that some would come in as guest residents and some for specific tasks.
“ITV are working hard on lining up their dream celebs to come on board and they think it could work a treat. No celeb is off the table, their dream lineup would include people like Gemma Collins, Kerry Katona and JoJo Siwa, and they’re sure they can secure some amazing talent.”
As things stand meanwhile, Celebrity Big Brother is scheduled to return to ITV in Spring 2027.
