The much-delayed celebrity edition of Race Across The World has already been filmed, it has emerged.
The BBC commissioned a spinoff of the popular reality travel competition show just before lockdown struck in early 2020, forcing production on both the new show and the original iteration to go on hold.
As travel restrictions loosened throughout 2022, producers got to work filming the third series – due to begin airing later this month – but also the celeb spinoff.
Michael Jochnowitz, commissioning editor at the BBC, is quoted by the Radio Times as saying: “Well, we filmed it at the end of last year and it’s in the edit. It’s looking incredible.
“It’s probably more of a traditional race in terms of number of countries that they’re going to travel through. It will be out later this year.”
Race Across The World series three begins on BBC One and iPlayer at 9pm on Wednesday, March 22, while applications for series four are open for the next month.
