Pierre Counihan-Moullier has quit his role as fan-favourite Oscar Branning in EastEnders after a little over a year.
The 26-year-old took over the role of Oscar – the son of Max Branning (Jake Wood) – in July 2025 and quickly endeared himself to viewers with his one-liners, cheeky demeanour and unashamed “bisexual king” vibe.
Executive producer Ben Wadey has been criticised by a large section of ardent EastEnders fans for the soap’s overall direction of late – and now Counihan-Moullier becomes the fifth departure in the space of months, following on from the upcoming exits of Michelle Ryan (Zoe Slater), Kellie Bright (Linda Carter), Charlie Suff (Johnny Carter) and Aaron Thiara (Ravi Gulati).
“The fans love Pierre, so this is a huge blow to the show,” a source told The Sun.
“It’s also interesting that signing up Pierre has been one of the better things that Ben Wadey has done. So the fact that he’s leaving is not a good look.
“Everyone’s now hoping that the rest of the cast will sit tight for a while.”
Counihan-Moullier is expected to make his on-screen departure in early 2027, with the door left being open for Oscar’s future return.
