How would you describe your style of cooking?
“Two words: unique and experimental. My cooking is a true blend of everything and anything, drawing from different cultures, techniques, and flavours to create something original every time. I love pushing boundaries and letting creativity lead the way. I tend to cook Caribbean and African style foods however I also like to cook Mediterranean, Greek and Turkish grilled dishes, which I love.
“Innovation is at the heart of my cooking. I thrive on being creative and experimental as it’s where my skills truly shine. When it comes to culinary influences, Gordon Ramsay stands out. His passion, no-nonsense approach, and sheer dedication to the craft are incredibly motivating. But if we’re talking about inspiration in its purest, most nostalgic form, it has to be Ainsley Harriot. Ready Steady Cook was iconic — you just had to be there!”
What is your favourite ingredient to cook with and why?
“I’d have to say all-purpose seasoning is my favourite – it’s right there in the name! It’s incredibly versatile and can elevate almost any dish, whether you’re cooking meat, vegetables, or even something unexpected. It’s my go-to for adding depth and flavour quickly. That said, I’ve also got a serious love for mint. I’ll add it to anything and everything. It brings a fresh, bold kick that cuts through rich flavours and adds a unique twist to both savoury and sweet dishes.”
Why did you enter MasterChef this year?
“Being on MasterChef has always been a dream of mine. Cooking has long been a passion, but deep down, I knew this was the show I was meant to be on — and I’m so glad it finally happened. But the real reason for entering comes down to one word: accountability. It was about holding a promise to my younger self — that anything and everything is possible with consistency, hard work, and a touch of creativity. MasterChef was more than just a goal; it was proof that I’m walking the path I once only imagined.”
MasterChef continues Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One.
