ITV has officially announced new spinoff show I’m A Celebrity… The Wild Frontier as filming gets underway in Canada.
The new format – hosted by Ant and Dec – will see celebrities take part in a familiar I’m A Celeb experience, albeit in the Wintry environs of Canada.
In a twist, each of the celebs will be competing as part of a pair, either with a relative, other loved ones or a fellow celebrity.
“This brand new series is I’m A Celebrity… like you’ve never seen before,” said Ant. “It’s a brand new format with lots of twists and surprises.”
Dec added: “We’re also making sure to retain some of the elements that we know viewers love from the Australian series. Buckle up, it’s going to be brilliant.”
The show is being pre-recorded for broadcast next Spring and – the same as with I’m A Celebrity… South Africa – will conclude with a live final episode from the UK which will see the winners declared.
The scheduling pattern is expected to comprise 15 episodes, airing three times a week over the course of five weeks.
Spinoff vodcast I’m A Celebrity… Unpacked will also be back alongside the new show, airing on ITV2 and ITVX with a live episode after the final.
Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s director of entertainment, said: “I’m A Celebrity… The Wild Frontier is a brand new series from the award-winning I’m A Celebrity… team.
“The format takes duos to the most spectacular locations in Canada. The duos enter as a pair, play as a pair and leave as a pair.
“With all the brilliant DNA of I’m A Celebrity…, brand new gameplay and the dynamics of living and playing with your spouse, best mate or sibling, it promises to be a treat for audiences in 2027.”
