The BBC has announced that Wednesday’s episode of EastEnders will not get an early release on iPlayer.
New episodes of the long-running soap are normally released on iPlayer at 6am from Monday to Thursday, with a linear broadcast following on BBC One that evening at 7.30pm.
On Wednesday, however, the episode will be saved until the broadcast at 7.30pm so that all viewers can watch the storylines unfold on screen at the same time.
Next week marks the long-awaited return of Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) to Albert Square, and in Tuesday’s episode she comes face to face with her estranged mother Kat (Jessie Wallace) for the first time in years.
Advanced spoilers for Wednesday’s episode reveal that a gunshot goes off and “a life hangs in the balance”, although exactly which residents are caught up in that drama are unknown.
Exec producer Ben Wadey said: “As Zoe makes her dramatic return to Walford next week, more than one secret in her past will come to light as we look to explore the reasons behind her return, and what has happened in the past twenty years to make her the person she is today.”
