Ian Puleston-Davies is to reprise his role as Owen Armstrong on Coronation Street after almost 12 years away.
The character – father of Izzy (Cherylee Houston) and grandfather of Jake (Bobby Bradshaw) – will be back to help his family after Jake’s dad Gary (Mikey North) was given a prison sentence for helping cover up murder.
Owen makes it very clear he blames Gary for his family’s misfortune and announces he is moving back to Weatherfield from Scotland to live with them.
“I can’t wait to pick up where I left off ten years ago!” said Puleston-Davies, whose final scenes aired in April 2045. “It’s brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen’s back and he’s still angry!”
Corrie producer Kate Brooks added: “We’re thrilled that Ian is back, and Owen brings a ton of drama. As he joins forces with an unlikely alliance, he wreaks havoc on the Street, and his relationship with Gary is severely put to the test.
“Needless to say, there’s never a dull moment when Owen’s around.”
Puleston-Davies resumes filming next week and will be on screen in January.
