Strictly Come Dancing – week one leaderboard in full

Former footballer Karen Carney and her pro partner Carlos Gu topped the leaderboard in the first Strictly Come Dancing live show of this year’s series.

All fifteen couples took to the dancefloor for the first time – and as usual for week one, all were safe from elimination, with the judges’ scores instead being combined with next week’s scores and the viewer votes to determine the first to leave.

Carney and Gu performed last on the night and earned a score of 31 points, including three eights, for their Jive to Blondie classic ‘One Way Or Another’.

Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope and his partner Katya Jones earned straight sevens from the judges for a total of 28 points for second place, while former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and his partner Lauren Oakley were a surprise joint third place with 27 points.

Also racking up 27 points was late addition Amber Davies, who stepped in with 48 hours notice to replace the injured Dani Dyer, and her partner Nikita Kuzmin.

At the other end of the leaderboard were Hollywood journalist Ross King and partner Jowita Przystal, who could only muster 10 points for their Cha Cha to Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’.
