Georgina Newton for The Apprentice S20 / BBC
Age: 31
From: East London
Occupation: Actress and Events Manager
What’s your business plan?
“My business plan is a touring theatrical production company specialising in the magic of pantomime, I want to take classic fairy tale stories on the road and make theatre accessible to everyone. The idea is to convert a large truck into a fully functioning theatre that travels around the UK bringing magic to everyone, no matter where they are. Think hospital car parks, care homes, private events and festivals. Pantomime is so special to me, I perform every Christmas professionally in panto whilst taking holiday from my main job. My number one goal is to be able to do what I love every day and not just at Christmas.”
What makes you a unique candidate?
“I have this magic to my personality, this sunshine that brightens up a room and turns any negative situation into something positive. I manage to bring out the best in those around me by lifting them, building confidence, making people smile and making sure everyone knows that they are enough just as they are. All anyone needs is to believe that they can do anything! I am a leader that always leads with kindness, and I truly don’t think anyone like me has ever been a part of the process.”
Why do you deserve Lord Sugar’s investment?
“If there’s anything I’m familiar with in my career so far, it’s rejection. I’ve been told ‘no’ thousands of times, ‘you aren’t quite right’, ‘you don’t quite fit’. Every ‘no’ I’ve had has never stopped me, I’ve not let it bring me down, I’ve used that “no” to springboard myself forward into doing something more amazing than the last! Not only am I driven, charismatic, great at sales, great with people of all ages, resilient, sharp-witted and brave, but I am also kind, empathetic and lead with integrity. I believe there should be more kind people paving the way in business and that’s what I am here to do.”
The Apprentice returns Thursday at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
