New channel Disney+ Cinema has begun testing on Sky satellite ahead of its official launch next month.
The linear station was announced earlier this month as part of a new agreement between Disney+ and Sky that will see the streaming service become available to eligible Sky customers for no additional cost.
A movie channel called Sky Cinema Disney previously operated from March 2013 until December 2020, when it was shut down as part of Disney’s overall switch away from linear to streaming via Disney+.
The broadcaster made a surprise return to linear late last year, however, relaunching the Disney Junior channel more than five years after it closed.
Initial films to be broadcast on Disney+ Cinema – expected to launch in mid to late March – include the likes of King Kong, Spartacus and Monster Hunter.
Sky Cinema Animation is due to close later in March to make way for the new channel.
