Eamonn Holmes on GB News in May 2025
Veteran presenter Eamonn Holmes sparked concern yesterday as he tumbled off his chair while live hosting the GB News Breakfast show.
The 65-year-old, who has battled mobility issues for several years, was appearing as usual in his hosting role alongside Ellie Costello when he slid off his chair onto his back.
Ex-government SPAD Charlie Rowley was being shown on screen talking to the pair when a loud thud could be heard to his left, prompting Rowley to stop talking in shock as Costello could be heard saying “oh my gosh”.
From the floor, Holmes said: “I’m fine, fine, fine, carry on, carry on” but as a stuttering Rowley attempted to do so, the station cut to an extended advert break that lasted for six minutes.
“I’m alive,” Holmes joked to viewers when the show resumed, having safely retaken his seat. “They’re very wonky wheels on chairs we’ve got here, as a matter of fact we don’t really like the chairs here.
“It was a shock for me because I had a fall two weeks ago in my bathroom that hospitalised me and that hit me right in the back. That hit me again right in the back. Really really sore, really sore.”
A source told the Daily Mail today: “Everyone at GB News is rallying round Eamonn. He’s had an horrendous couple of years, but he has the full support of the channel and all of his colleagues.
“Eamonn’s health problems have presented challenges for him and for the channel, but bosses are working on ways they can help him in any way they can.
“Eamonn remains a massive part of the channel’s future and is adored by viewers and his co presenters alike.
“He was obviously a bit embarrassed about what happened the other day. He’s worked on TV for decades and nothing like that has ever happened to him before. It left him a bit bruised and sore but he’s on the mend now.”
Holmes is expected to return to air as usual on Monday morning.
