Disney+ has benefitted from a new Sky bundling deal to grow by 1.1 million UK households in the space of three months.
The streaming service’s basic package is now included at no additional charge for most Sky customers – and as a result, the number of UK households with Disney+ rose from 7.8 million at the end of March to 8.9 million by the end of June.
Over the same period, market leader Netflix dropped slightly from 18.1 million to 18 million, while Prime Video was down similarly from 13.7 million to 13.6 million.
Paramount+ rose by 500,000 to 4 million, Discovery+ was up 200,000 to 3.7 million, Apple TV dropped 300,000 to 2.8 million and NOW was flat at 2 million.
Doug Whelpdale, head of insight at BARB, said: “By far the biggest change this quarter came from Disney+, which added more than 1.1m homes – including just over 700k ad tier homes – compared to Q1 2026.
“This would appear to be a direct result of the partnership announced in March this year that saw Disney+ (with ads) added to eligible Sky packages for no extra cost.
“Meanwhile Paramount+ also added half a million homes to reach fractionally under 4m UK homes.”
