Fiz and Cassie on Coronation Street on October 15, 2025 / ITV
Claire Sweeney has completed filming of her final scenes as Cassie Plummer on Coronation Street.
The character – daughter of Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) and mother of Tyrone (Alan Halsall) – arrived on the cobbles in June 2023 as a drug addict whom Tyrone had been led to believe was dead.
Over her three-year stint in Weatherfield, Cassie has progressively softened – beating her addictions, settling into family life with the Dobbs clan and getting into a committed relationship with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
Earlier this year Sweeney revealed that she would reluctantly be leaving the soap in order to take up her dream role playing Miss Hannigan in Annie, and now The Sun has confirmed that she shot her departure storyline last week.
“There were tears all round when Claire’s final scenes were shot,” a source told the newspaper.
“She’s hugely popular on set and everyone thought she would be there for a long haul but understand that she wants to go back on tour.
“The door is very much open for her to return in the future.”
Cassie’s exit is thought to be intertwined by the upcoming introduction of Tyrone’s biological dad Ross, played by Ian Burfield.
The scenes are expected to air at some point in August.
