Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) jumped into bed with another Coronation Street character in a shock twist in today’s episode of the soap.
The younger brother of Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Debbie (Sue Devaney) arrived on the cobbles earlier this year and soon found himself in a full-blown affair with Kevin’s wife Abi (Sally Carman).
With Abi currently on holiday with Kevin, a scheming Tracy has made it crystal clear that she wants to sleep with him but he has consistently rebuffed her advances.
In today’s episode however – available now on ITVX and airing at 8pm on ITV1 tonight – Carl was seen in his hotel room getting cosy with James Bailey (Jason Callender).
Explaining the twist, Howard said: “Carl likes living life on the edge, he is a hedonist and a free spirit, he is attracted to a person regardless of their gender and if he sees something he wants he goes for it with no real thought to the consequences of his actions.
“He is frustrated that Abi has gone away with Kevin and he needs something to distract himself. There is a spark between him and James so he goes for it. Tracy was also offering herself to him but he isn’t stupid and he knows that would be a dangerous move, James on the other hand is less complicated and more fun.”
