Sarah and Eli on Coronation Street on August 18, 2025 / ITV
Coronation Street legend Tina O’Brien has signed a new contract keeping her in the role of Sarah Platt on the soap for at least another year.
The actress took over the part in 1998, and after a seven-year break from 2008, she returned in 2015 and has been a key cast member ever since.
A source told The Sun: “Tina had a very difficult 2025 so bosses wanted to reassure her that there was nothing to worry about where her job was concerned.
“She put pen to paper just before the Christmas break. Obviously there have been lot of changes over the last few months and the last thing they wanted was for her to worry about her role on Corrie.
“She is very much adored on set and her character has got some big things coming up this year.”
The news comes after her on-screen brother Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt, also signed a new 12-month contract extension.
