Emmerdale plays out surprise twist in John Sugden storyline

Emmerdale has aired a shock scene in today’s episode as part of the ongoing John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) storyline.

For some time viewers have been aware of John’s sinister alter ego and his responsibility for the death of Nate (Jurell Carter) – and in last week’s episodes, Mack (Lawrence Robb) became the first villager to discover John’s true nature.

John hunted down Mack as he tried to escape through the woods, shooting him through the chest with an arrow before appearing to deliver a fatal blow with a rock.

At the end of today’s episode, however, John was seen entering a secret underground bunker in the woods – where Mack was very much alive and being kept hostage.

The story continues to play out next week, weekdays from 7am on ITVX or at 7.30pm on ITV1.
