Michelle Collins has reprised her role as Cindy Beale on EastEnders, 25 years after the iconic character was killed off.
Also returning to the soap is Adam Woodyatt, who played her ex-husband Ian Beale but has been on an extended break from the soap for the best part of two years.
Cindy was bumped off in an off-screen storyline in 1998, supposedly dying during child birth while serving time in prison for attempted murder.
Producers have come up with an explanation for what really happened to Cindy, however, and in surprise scenes airing soon she will be seen reunited with Ian in the south of France.
The pair are unsuccessfully trying to run a market stall serving up "dodgy baguettes" to the bemusement of unimpressed locals.
"It's not entirely clear how or when they got back together, or how they ended up in France - but they seem to be a couple again," a source told The Sun.
"It's a clever and funny twist to have them continuing their catering work and working on stalls, just like they did on Albert Square."
Filming of the scenes took place in Hertfordshire this month, meaning that the duo should be back on screen either next month or in July.
EastEnders has a history of bringing back characters from the dead, most notably 'Dirty' Den Watts (the late Leslie Grantham) and Ian's mother Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).
