Charley Webb reportedly decides not to return to Emmerdale after 19 years of playing Debbie Dingle.

Charley Webb has reportedly decided not to return to Emmerdale in the future after 19 years of playing Debbie Dingle.

The 33-year-old last appeared on the soap in February, having returned for a short storyline that saw her have a fling with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) before returning to Scotland.

In real life, Webb is married to soap co-star Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David, and the couple have three children together.

Wolfenden has recently taken time off from the soap after being accused of mocking a mixed-race actress's accent - claims he strongly denies - and according to The Sun, the furore has led to Webb deciding to quit for good.

"Charley is closing the door on Emmerdale for good and won't be going back," a source told the newspaper.

"After she gave birth to her third child with Matthew in 2019 she returned briefly before taking some time out again.

"The past few months have given her time to think about the future and it is one that doesn't involve Emmerdale.

"Matthew being caught up in the row on set fuelled her decision to step away.

"Charley has been on Emmerdale for 19 years and her character Debbie has had a rollercoaster ride. It's time for a new adventure for Charley.

"Naturally the door is open for her character, who is now living in Scotland, should she change her mind. But for now she is looking to the future."

An Emmerdale spokeswoman confirmed that there are "no current plans" for Debbie Dingle to return.
