Maya Jama favourite to host The X Factor?

The X Factor creator Simon Cowell has reportedly made Maya Jama his top target to host the show’s mooted comeback.

The singing competition was dropped by ITV in 2019 after 16 years as a key part of the broadcaster’s weekend schedules but is supposedly in line for a return in 2027.

Long-time host Dermot O’Leary has already expressed interest in returning to the show but according to The Sun, Love Island presenter Jama, 32, is the current frontrunner.

“Maya is perfect for the reboot as she would bring a fresh young audience as well as energy,” a source told the newspaper.

“She has plenty of experience hosting live shows and is one of the hottest talents on telly right now. Plus she loves music and really knows her stuff.

“The X Factor want to appeal the show to younger viewers and they feel Maya’s Love Island hosting and her huge following make her an ideal candidate.

“She’s also really busy with her acting career, but would make space in her schedule for the right opportunity.”

Cowell, who is also said to be considering Rylan Clark for the role, previously worked together with Jama in 2021 when she hosted his short-lived show Walk The Line.
