Armie Hammer hits out at "bulls**t" allegations

Armie Hammer speaks out for the first time following a series of bizarre allegations against him on social media.

Armie Hammer has spoken out for the first time following a series of allegations against him last weekend.

The 34-year-old actor became a trending topic on Twitter following the leak of a series of unverified private messages that detailed bizarre cannibalistic desires and extreme sexual fantasies.

Hammer and his team had maintained silence in response to repeated press requests for comment in the days that followed, but now the Call Me By Your Name star has issued a withering statement slamming the accusations.

The actor has also decided to withdraw from Shotgun Wedding, an upcoming romantic comedy in which he was due to star opposite Jennifer Lopez.

"I'm not responding to these bullshit claims, but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot, in good conscience now, leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic," Hammer told E! News.

"Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I'm grateful to them for that."

A Lionsgate spokesperson added: "Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision."

Hammer shares two children with ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers.
