Sports Mole takes on James Hallam - frontman of Sheffield indie-rock band Matilda Shakes - for a Premier League predictions challenge in gameweek 32 of the 2024-25 season.

Liverpool will be bidding to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they welcome West Ham United to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Arne Slot's side suffered a shock 3-2 defeat to Fulham last time out, but the Reds are still in an extremely comfortable position at the top of the Premier League table, sitting 11 points clear of second-placed Arsenal.

The Gunners will be in action in Saturday's late start, hosting Brentford, while the champions Manchester City open this weekend's action with a home fixture against Crystal Palace.

On Sunday, in addition to Liverpool's clash with West Ham, Chelsea will host Ipswich Town, Tottenham Hotspur will visit Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Manchester United will head to Newcastle United.

Gameweek 32 will then conclude on Monday evening, as Bournemouth welcome a Fulham side that have ambitions of sneaking into the top five in the final stages of the campaign.

Another Premier League gameweek means another Sports Mole prediction competition, and this week, we are facing off against James Hallam - frontman of Sheffield indie-rock band Matilda Shakes - who is a Sheffield United fan.

Read on to discover James' and our predictions for gameweek 32, as well as finding out the results of our head-to-head with Paddy Boyd - lead singer/guitarist of Northern Irish alternative rock quartet The Florentinas from gameweek 31.

Man City vs. Crystal Palace

James: Man City 2-1 Crystal Palace

Sports Mole: Man City 2-1 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have been a problematic opponent for Man City in recent years and Glasner's fearless, in-form crop will back themselves to cause an upset at the Etihad this weekend.

The Citizens will still be regarded as favourites, though, and if Guardiola's attackers manage to click in the final third, then they should have enough to get the better of a potentially weakened Palace backline.

Brighton vs. Leicester

Saturday, 3pm

James: Brighton 2-0 Leicester

Sports Mole: Brighton 3-0 Leicester

Leicester did well to fight back and earn a draw in the reverse fixture with Brighton, but it is difficult to back the Foxes picking up any points this time around considering their dire run of form, defensive vulnerabilities and struggles in the final third.

Brighton have suffered a slight dip in form in recent weeks, but they should have too much for Leicester this weekend, despite the absence of several players, with Hurzeler still able to call upon several Seagulls stars who can cause the Foxes problems.

Nott'm Forest vs. Everton

Saturday, 3pm

James: Nott'm Forest 1-0 Everton

Sports Mole: Nott'm Forest 1-0 Everton

Both sides have been among the strongest defensively in 2025, so expect little edge to be given, but Forest do have the more potent attack, and if Wood returns, that could swing the balance in their favour.

Liverpool are the only team who have beaten Everton in their last 11 league games, so it will be no easy feat for Forest, but the Toffees are notoriously poor on the road, especially against sides fighting near the top.

Southampton vs. Aston Villa

Saturday, 3pm

James: Southampton 0-3 Aston Villa

Sports Mole: Southampton 1-3 Aston Villa

Villa may have far bigger fish to fry right now, but a visit to a manager-less and morale-less Southampton side offers a prime opportunity to regain some momentum before the visit of PSG.

Even Emery's much-changed team proved too good for high-flying Forest last week, and the Lions should also make light work of the Saints, whose hopes of surpassing Derby's lowest points total will suffer another hit.

Arsenal vs. Brentford

Saturday, 5.30pm

James: Arsenal 2-0 Brentford

Sports Mole: Arsenal 2-1 Brentford

A scarcely believable sentence just a few days ago, Arsenal will surely face more of a test against Brentford than they did against Real Madrid, as Arteta makes sweeping changes with the second leg in mind.

Frank's side can set up to frustrate the Gunners and also hit them on the break with the pace and trickery of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, but several Arsenal players will be desperate to showcase their talents in the hope of starting at the Bernabeu, and we still expect the hosts to edge a tense derby on Saturday evening.

Chelsea vs. Ipswich

Sunday, 2pm

James: Chelsea 4-1 Ipswich

Sports Mole: Chelsea 2-0 Ipswich

Still in the heat of the race for a Champions League spot, Chelsea will be desperate to put Ipswich to the sword at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Tractor Boys are beginning to prepare for the Championship in the back of their minds and should be no match for the Blues in West London.

Liverpool vs. West Ham

James: Liverpool 3-1 West Ham

Sports Mole: Liverpool 2-0 West Ham

Liverpool's jellied legs may finally be feeling the effects of a long and gruelling season, but their UCL exit at least now allows them ample time to recover, the importance of which cannot be overstated.

Potter's West Ham have previous when it comes to sitting in a low block, launching quick counters and stunning title-chasing teams away from home - as Arsenal fans know - but we have complete faith in the hosts to take another step towards title glory.

Wolves vs. Spurs

Sunday, 2pm

James: Wolves 0-1 Spurs

Sports Mole: Wolves 2-1 Spurs

Even a full-strength Tottenham side have struggled to impose themselves on Wolves over the past couple of years, and with Postecoglou sure to keep his biggest hitters in reserve, the travelling Spurs faithful should be left disappointed once again.

Wolves have found a consistent attacking approach that is now bearing fruit, and with the addition of a well-rested Cunha, Pereira's men have our vote to close the gap to Spurs with a fourth win on the spin.

Newcastle vs. Man Utd

Sunday, 4.30pm

James: Newcastle 1-1 Man Utd

Sports Mole: Newcastle 2-1 Man Utd

Newcastle will be desperate to boost their Champions League hopes with another win, and with Man United prioritising the Europa League, we think that the fully focused Magpies will do enough to secure a fifth consecutive victory in all competitions.

Bournemouth vs. Fulham

Monday, 8pm

James: Bournemouth 2-2 Fulham

Sports Mole: Bournemouth 2-2 Fulham

Much will depend on whether the influential Kluivert will be fit to return on Monday, but Iraola's forward-thinking Bournemouth can usually trouble any opposition defence regardless of who is on the pitch.

However, the Cherries' recent rearguard failings coupled with Fulham's penchant for goals on the road makes it difficult to picture the hosts ending their painful winless run, but they should at least avoid a fifth successive home defeat in the Premier League as they play out another entertaining draw with their fellow European outsiders.

James Hallam Q&A

Matilda Shakes press shot© Imago

How did you come to support Sheffield United and what are your favourite memories from your time as a fan?

James: I started going down to Bramall Lane when I was around 13 years old with friends and fell in love instantly. There's so many great memories following the blades particularly recently with the promotions to the Premier League I would say a personal favourite memory for myself would be the promotion back in 2006 and the following season in the Premier League seeing players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry and Wayne Rooney coming to Bramall Lane.

Who have been your favourite five players for Sheffield United?

James: I would say my top five favourite players that I've seen play for us would be Phil Jagielka, Billy Sharp, Dean Henderson, George Baldock and Jack O'Connell.

What's going on with the band at the moment?

James: We've just released our brand new single 'Heebie Jeebies'. We've got an intimate hometown headline show at the Hallamshire Hotel on the 2nd May before we head off to support Reverend & The Makers at the Rock & Roll Circus on the 30th August.

'Heebie Jeebies' by Matilda Shakes is available to stream now.
