Hollyoaks legend Gemma Bissix has reportedly signs a new deal to return as Clare Devine, allaying fears that the character will be killed off.
“Super-bitch” Clare made a shock return to Hollyoaks village earlier this year, 12 years after she was supposedly killed off, and immediately became embroiled in a dark child trafficking storyline.
Previous reports have indicated that Bissix will leave the soap next month as part of the 30th anniversary storylines, suggesting that Clare could die, but The Sun reports that her exit will only be temporary.
“Gemma recently finished filming for her first stint back as Clare – but fans shouldn’t worry because she will be back,” a show source told the newspaper.
“She’s signed a new contract ensuring her return after a short break which works for the character.
“Clare’s always at her best when she comes in, causes chaos and then flies off and that’s just how Gemma likes it too.
“She loves being on Hollyoaks and working but she’s got two young daughters on the other side of the country and she wants to be around for them too.”
The soap’s 30th anniversary celebrations will also include the return of Hollyoaks later and a much-anticipated crossover with Brookside.
