Elon Trump and Donald Musk, 2025
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has claimed that President Donald Trump is implicated in the notorious ‘Epstein Files’.
Until recently the owner of X had been a strong ally of the President, donating funds to his recent election campaign and subsequently heading up a unit known as DOGE – the Department of Government Efficiency – in a bid to identify areas of alleged misspending by the US government.
Musk left his position as the head of DOGE recently, since which he has been critical of Trump’s policies, in particular a tax and spending bill which he referred to as a “disgusting abomination”.
The Epstein Files, meanwhile, refer to a mooted dossier which contains a list of high-profile names connected with the late Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of running a sex trafficking ring involving underage girls.
Epstein supposedly died by suicide in a jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on the charges.
In a post on X today, Musk wrote: “Time to drop the really big bomb:@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
He added: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
In response, Trump appeared to ignore the Epstein allegations, writing on his Truth Social platform: “I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago.
“This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It’s a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that.
“I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
