Amol Rajan plans to lie low on The Celebrity Traitors

Amol Rajan has said that he intends to ‘keep his head down’ in the early stages of playing The Celebrity Traitors.

The journalist and University Challenge host is one of 21 celebs entering the famous castle in the Scottish Highlands for a new instalment of the treacherous reality show, which begins next week.

Speaking about strategy before filming the show earlier this year, Rajan revealed: “I do think you probably need to keep your head down a bit in the beginning. I don’t want to go in there and Round Table number one be Mr. Forensic Investigator!

“However, I do interview politicians for a living, and I really have to pursue answers to questions. In this case you could quickly put a target on your back and much of this game is all about relationships. I do think to begin with, I want to try and make friends and keep my head down.”

As for his overall role within the group, he continued: “All games are a combination of skill, which is tied up with character, strategy and luck. And so, I don’t think you can overplay how much it is strategy, to the extent that there is a strategy, but I think it is about being different things at different times.

“I enjoy leadership and it’s not so much that it comes naturally to me in terms of a personality, it’s just I’ve done it quite a lot. I think I can be quite good at it, and I think there is a case for leadership at different times.

“The thing that’s quite interesting is that the incentives are so conflicting and really, it’s about taking on different roles at different times. In the end, you’ve got to, start as a team player and emerge as a lone wolf.”
