Angela Scanlon for The Apprentice: Unfinished Business / BBC
Angela Scanlon has described The Apprentice‘s new companion show Unfinished Business as “a debrief with your best pals about your favourite show”.
Since the second series of The Apprentice in 2006, sister show The Apprentice: You’re Fired! has featured an in-depth interview with the week’s fired candidate alongside a panel of celebrity guests.
For the upcoming 20th series the BBC recently confirmed that it is being axed in favour of a new show hosted by Scanlon, who replaces You’re Fired! host Tom Allen.
“Unfinished Business is essentially a debrief with your best pals about your favourite show,” explained Scanlon, who was a participant on last year’s Celebrity Apprentice. “You’ve just watched the main show – the candidates have met Lord Sugar, they’re doing the tasks and then facing the music in the boardroom.
“But then it’s almost like you’re nipping into the snug for a drink and a chat afterwards, where we get to dissect the decisions that were made, unpick the mistakes and highlight the successes or where people have shone, as well as where they’ve messed up. It’s a really juicy debrief and a place to ask all the questions we don’t get the opportunity to in the main show.”
She continued: “I want to know everything – what’s happening in the house after hours? I want to know who’s doing the cooking, who’s pulling their weight, who’s the mum of the crew? The dynamics between them all obviously have a massive impact on screen when they’re then working in teams.
“And yes, they’re professionals and all working towards one thing, which is to beat each other. But I think, you know, natural human dynamics play out so I definitely want to explore that, which I don’t think we’ve seen before.”
The Apprentice: Unfinished Business airs Thursday at 10.05pm on BBC Two and iPlayer, directly after The Apprentice on BBC One.
