Karina (Rebecca Bell), Jamie (Brandon Grace), Nadine (Eilidh Park), Katie (Alyth Ross), Bav (Ro Kumar), Alasdair (George Prentice) for Counsels / BBC
The BBC has announced the casting for Counsels, a new drama following 20-something lawyers in Glasgow.
The show – created by Bryan Elsley and Gillian McCormack – centres around a group of young hotshots working across the legal landscape, from public prosecution to representing big corporate clients.
“Each one of them is out to win,” a synopsis reads. “They are colleagues jostling for promotion, lovers trying to hold onto one another as ambitions accelerate and pure adversaries professionally and personally. And now’s the time things are going to catch fire.”
Playing the lawyers are Brandon Grace as Jamie, Ro Kumar as Bav, Eilidh Park as Nadine, George Prentice as Alasdair, Alyth Ross as Katie and Rebecca Bell as Karina.
“I am delighted to be leading with Gillian McCormack on Counsels,” said Elsley, known for his previous work on Skins and The Crow Road. “We look forward to introducing a galaxy of Scottish acting, writing and directing talent to our audience.
“Set entirely in Glasgow, we hope to bring the city vividly to life and fill it with arresting stories and characters.”
The eight-part series is expected to air on BBC One next year.
