The BBC is said to be “exploring” a return for Miranda Hart’s sitcom after more than 11 years off the air.
At its peak, Miranda, which ran for three series and two specials between 2009 and 2015, drew more than 11.5 million viewers.
Hart, 53, has previously said that the final special marked the end of the show but her recent appearance on The Celebrity Traitors has led to the BBC looking at the possibility of another special or even a full fourth series.
A source told The Sun: “Miranda has reminded everyone just how loved she is.
“There’s been a huge reaction to her on Celebrity Traitors, and the BBC will have noticed just how much affection there still is for her.
“There is a real appetite for more Miranda. The show has had a new generation discovering her, while those who grew up watching the sitcom are desperate to see her back on screen.
“There have been conversations about whether Miranda could return among bosses. A one-off special could be a brilliant way to bring Miranda back, and the possibility of another series is something the BBC would love to explore.”
Hart’s time on The Celebrity Traitors came to an end in last week’s episode as she became the Traitors’ latest murder victim.
