Classic dating show Blind Date is reportedly in line to make a comeback on streaming service Disney+.
Originally hosted by Cilla Black, the show was a staple of the ITV Saturday night schedules from 1985 to 2003.
Channel 5 revived the format in 2017, with the late Paul O’Grady as host, but it lasted for just four series before being axed as ratings dipped below 1 million.
According to The Sun, Disney+ is the surprise new home for the show and the streamer is in the process of finding a suitable female host, with options said to include Holly Willoughby, Davina McCall and Claudia Winkleman.
A source told the newspaper: “Although there’s likely to be some modern twists, the bosses very much want to keep the essence of the original.
“There’ll be key elements returning, including the famous sliding wall.
“Plus there will be a prize up for grabs of a wedding package, which echoes Cilla’s famous gag whenever couples had enjoyed a successful date, and she used to ask, ‘Do I need to buy an ‘at for the wedding?’”
The show is due to be filmed later this year before dropping on Disney+ in early 2026.
