Rajan Gill for The Apprentice S20 / BBC
Rajan Gill has insisted that he has no hard feelings towards Lord Sugar over his firing from The Apprentice this week.
The 30-year-old, who works in pharmaceutical sales, was given the finger by Lord Sugar after a task that saw the candidates develop their own gamified fitness product.
The boss explained that he ‘hadn’t seen much’ from Rajan over the first seven tasks, instead opting to keep under-fire project manager Lawrence Rosenberg in the process.
“Ultimately, Lord Sugar makes the decision based on the task and the overall performance. And I respect that,” Rajan said. “I’m not going to go against Lord Sugar’s word. He’s a very, very intelligent man. He’s a strong businessman.
“So don’t get me wrong, there could have been things that I could have done better. But I am very, very proud of what I contributed throughout the process.
“But no, I don’t think I deserve to be fired, to be honest. One of the things that Lord Sugar said to me before he fired me was that he felt like he didn’t really see much of me throughout the process. But if I had the chance to speak to him right now, I would remind him I was sub-PM twice throughout the process.
“I held, I think, three corporate negotiations throughout the process of which every negotiation outweighed and smashed the other team. And I put my all into every single task and I feel like there were some individuals who didn’t do that and they should be facing the repercussions themselves.”
The Apprentice continues Thursdays at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
