Melanie Walters for Beyond Paradise S4 / BBC
Gavin & Stacey star Melanie Walters is reportedly in the lineup for the much-anticipated new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The actress, 64, played Stacey’s cheery mother Gwen in the sitcom across a 17-year period and has also appeared in shows such as Beyond Paradise, Death Valley and Father Brown.
Just four names have been officially confirmed so far – Lacey Turner, Dani Dyer, Delta Goodrem and Chris Appleton – and according to The Sun, they will soon be joined by Walters.
“Melanie is loved across the country for her role as Gwen,” a source said.
“The Gavin & Stacey Christmas special in 2024 saw millions of fans turning in for the final episode of the series. BBC bosses are very excited to have landed Melanie given her popularity.”
The new series launches on BBC One in September.
