Gladiators star Nitro, aka Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, is reportedly in line to take part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The former Team GB athlete, 36, was one of the competitors in last year’s Christmas special and scored an impressive 37 out of 40 for his street dance with Nancy Xu.
According to The Sun, producers are now keen to get him back on board for a full-length series this Autumn.
“Bosses have been desperate to get Nitro on the series for a while,” a source told the newspaper.
“They were in talks last year but couldn’t get the timings to marry up with his work.
“He was a huge hit at Christmas prancing around in lycra and showing off his biceps. Producers were also impressed with his dancing.
“The Gladiators fanbase is growing and kids love them so he’ll be a hit with younger viewers, too.”
Other rumoured names for this year’s series – due to begin on BBC One in September – include reality star Dani Dyer, food critic Tom Parker-Bowles, presenter Stacey Solomon and The Apprentice‘s Thomas Skinner.
