Good Morning Britain will reportedly close down its US bureau as part of the impending cost-cutting measures coming in across ITV Daytime.
The broadcaster is bringing in sweeping changes in 2026 affecting not only GMB but also Lorraine and Loose Women, resulting in 220 job losses in order to save around £50 million a year.
According to The Sun, as part of the shakeup ITV has decided to close down GMB‘s dedicated office in New York and will instead take reports from the main ITV News hub.
A source told the newspaper: “They have completely axed their American operation, with the intensity of the news cycle in the US as it is – especially now, with a president who is making headlines daily.
“How does that make any sense? These cuts are a disaster in the making. The way they have gone about all of this is messy and it is devastating for us all.
“Why are they trying to reinvent the ‘news’ instead of finding better ways to reach audiences? It is a shame they are being so shortsighted and are losing genuine, good quality people.
“These cuts are a brazen pivot away from journalism.”
An ITV spokesperson responded: “ITV is currently in consultation over proposed changes and no final decisions have been made on redundancies.
“ITV News has a significant presence across North America and its award winning bureau will continue to provide GMB viewers with trusted international news.”
