Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is to end after its fourth season, it has been revealed.
The drama, which stars Matt Smith, is an adaptation of George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood and is set a couple of centuries before the events of GoT.
A fourth season was confirmed at the end of last year and now HBO boss Casey Bloys has confirmed that it will signal the end of the saga.
In quotes reported by TV Line, he said: “The idea has always been to follow the history of the Targaryens.
“If you know the books, you know how the Targaryens end up. So there is a natural end to this particular history of that House of the Targaryens.”
The third season is due to premiere this Summer, with the fourth season expected to arrive in 2028.
