ITV has announced two bonus documentaries to sit alongside the conclusion of the Up series with 70 Up.
The epic series began in 1964 by introducing the UK to a group of seven-year-old school children in the documentary 7 Up.
The series has caught up with the group every seven years ever since, charting their journey through adolescence, adulthood and – now – old age.
The show is finally coming to a conclusion later this year with two 90-minute programmes, 70 Up, for one final check-in with the people who have had their entire lives charted on screen.
The first of the bonus programmes is the 30-minute 7 Up: The Story, which explores the genesis of the show and reflects how life was in Britain when it began in 1964.
The second is the 30-minute 70 Up: The Victorians, which brings back some long-forgotten footage filmed by the original programme-makers in 1964 of interviews with a group of 70-year-olds.
Those people would have grown up in the late Victorian era and the re-mastered footage will share their views on attitudes of the time and predictions of what might come in the future.
The shows are all expected to air on ITV next month.
