It was a double whammy for OG Aidan Murphy and Priya Jaswal on Friday night’s Love Island as they first decided to split up before learning that the public had decided to vote them out anyway.
Having just missed out on a spot in the final, Priya spoke to the press shortly after leaving the villa to discuss her time on the show…
How does it feel to be leaving Love Island?
“It feels surreal. I’ve had the best time ever. I’ve learned a lot, made mistakes, but also met the most amazing people ever. I feel very grateful for the experience.I’m really excited to catch up with my friends and family.”
Overall, how would you describe the experience?
“If I could describe the experience in one word, I’d say humbling. Extraordinarily humbling. I’m going to remain strong and just take everything in my stride.”
What was leaving the Villa like?
“It was actually really positive. We had a really nice ending. We had an amazing dinner, dressed to the nines, and left together. I believe that we have a genuine love for each other, whether that be platonic or romantic. I actually wouldn’t change the end to my journey in the slightest.”
You came in as an early Bombshell alongside Kavan. What was that like?
“It’s crazy, it’s like I had some weird form of connection to the Murphys in whatever way it was! I’ve got quite a special bond with Kav as well because we obviously started the journey together. He’s an amazing guy. So mature. He’s done his family and friends proud. Then leaving with Aidan, whatever me and Aidan are, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’ve had an amazing time and I’m glad that I left with him. We’ve got a nice little special connection.”
How did you feel during Not Another Podcast when Aidan said that, hypothetically, he could still explore things with Yasmin?
“That was a kick in the teeth. And I think that was the point where I was like, I don’t even know if I can come back from there. So I kind of said to end it.”
How was Movie Night for you?
“Movie Night was a tough watch. Not only did I find out that the person I was coupled up with was being a bit sneaky behind my back, but some of my friends too. I remember Lorenzo picking me up after that. We had a really nice friendship and he’s always been there for me in times where I have felt that I really need someone and need some good advice.”
There was some tension between you and Julia over your friendship with Lorenzo. What was that like to navigate?
“Julia’s kind of expressed that she has been quite jealous with situations where Lorenzo talks to other girls. We’re both quite opinionated, strong women, strong characters, so it’s a case where me and her may have clashed over those situations. I think the main tension came from her opinions to do with my Aidan situation. Julia does express things sometimes in a bit of a controversial way. I don’t think the place she’s coming from is a bad place.”
How did you find the Grafties?
“I was trying to navigate how I felt about Aidan, to be honest. I’ve not cared about what people think is right for me or what they think I am. I’ve cared about what feels right to me, and again, that just shows that I was actually there to find a connection. I’m a fan of the show because I love love. I watch it because it is so magical to watch connections form.”
Which couples do you think will go the distance?
“Mica and Samraj. Angelista and Simba. I don’t have doubts about Tommy and Yas’s connection in the slightest. I think their connection is so pure, it’s so real. Then Lorenzo and Julia, I actually think will probably prove us all wrong.”
