Jhane Gibson for MasterChef 2026 / BBC
Jhane Gibson, a 29-year-old Londoner, has been crowned the winner of this year’s MasterChef.
The series – the first with new judges Grace Dent and Anna Haugh at the helm – saw Jhane defeat 47 other hopefuls over a seven-week process, including fellow final-three competitors Kristen and Matt.
The final challenge required the contestants to prepare their ultimate three-course feast for the judges over three hours, demonstrating technically-perfect execution and flavour profiles.
Jhane’s winning menu began with a starter of fried snapper with escabeche pickles, followed by piri piri poussin with crispy potatoes, then a dessert of Jamaican ginger rum cake with coconut and Chantilly cream.
“I am a MasterChef champion!” she said afterwards. “Those words feel so funny coming out of my mouth, but I am ecstatic, and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been happier.
“It has been the journey of a lifetime, being part of this incredible show, and I can’t wait for all the exciting things that are coming next.”
She added: “I hope this trophy shows that if you go after your dreams, it might just pay off.”
Applications for the 2027 series are open online now, with filming due to take place this Autumn.
